This front line position requires a person with exceptional communication skills and outgoing personality.  Qualified individuals will have an enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to be a top performer, especially in a team environment.  Must show a desire to consistently provide our members with financial recommendations of products and services that are in the best interest of the Members financial needs and goals.  A positive attitude and friendly service must be provided to both the membership and all fellow team members.

1) JOB DESCRIPTION:

Perform a variety of activities including loan interviewing, processing or funding, of consumerand real estate loan products for members, while adhering to established policies, procedures and lending regulations. Process a variety of routine financial transactions, open new account, provide information and resolve problems. Provide quality member service.  Cross-sell credit union products and services.


  • Loans:
    • Review members credit applications;
    • Request verification of income when necessary;
    • Run/review credit reports and with notations regarding credit worthiness for loan officer;
    • Collect or prepare all documentation required for the loan request, including required disclosures;
    • Contact members for funding, and disperse loan requests as approved by a credit union loan officer.
  • Unsecured loan products:
    • Process loans, using lines or credit or credit card products where appropriate within established Credit Union Policies, Guidelines and Procedures. Review Credit Lines on existing lines of credit and card products for appropriateness according to established procedures and refer to a loan officer for action.
  • Secured Loan Products:
    • Verify value of collateral; collect vehicle insurance information; appraise vehicles as required, and request and review outside appraisals when necessary; obtain all documentation and DMV forms for perfection of titles on all vehicles;  Process all DMV work promptly;  Review DMV Report regularly and follow up/handle DMV problems as needed for timely receipt of perfected titles;  Maintain an understanding of current DMV laws and regulations; Maintain an adequate supply of current DMV forms;  Prepare Lien Satisfied as necessary.
  • Real Estate Loan Products:
    • Open title, order appraisals, flood certificates, Tax Service and insurance verifications when requested by a credit union loan officer. Provide all required disclosures to members. Arrange for recording and sub-escrow payoff’s when applicable.  Prepare reconveyance documents on paid real estate loans for signature by a credit union loan officer. Perform account file maintenance and account changes as authorized;

2) General Loan and other Office Tasks:


  • Assist in answering, routing and taking messages for incoming telephone calls;
  • Prepare daily work and loan files for scanning; mail various member notices; Assist with the general appearance of the lobby area; submit payroll deduction authorizations and changes to operations department filing as needed; assist in training new staff members as requested; fill in as member service representative according to credit union needs and employee’s level of experience.


3) Member Service Specialist - processing of Member requests, in person, by telephone or mail regarding:


  • Deposits, withdrawal requests, check cashing, loan payments, transfers, check by phone payments. Verification of deposits (VOD), share certificate renewals; open new accounts and provide account information regarding all savings products, checking accounts and IRA’s.
  • Cross sell credit union products and services; order and/or issue ATM Cards, Debit Cards, Share Drafts, loan coupons; perform limited file maintenance and account changes as authorized; process stop payment requests; provide information on electronic services, wires, ach set-up; close accounts; verify and post member group payroll deductions; manage and balance cash drawer, check deposits & withdrawals and organize daily work.



Job Requirements:

  • Develop an understanding of Credit Union History, philosophy, organization, operational procedures and credit union practices.
  • Attend training sessions when applicable;
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate professional communication skills with members,
  • Credit union staff and members.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and written procedures.Make sound decisions based on logic and past experience.


Applicant Qualifications:

  • Member Service Oriented with a neat professional appearance;
  • Organized, efficient, self-motivated and accurate;
  • Must be a high school graduate with basic reading, writing and math skills;
  • Prior consumer lending experience required;
  • Experience with PC, Microsoft Word & Excel, ten-key, typing and spelling skills.
